I actually believe that Angelique's Descent and Final Judgement work nicely together. Josette notes that Angelique and she played together as children, which could technically work if Angelique came on around ten, assuming she spent a year at Monsieur Bouchard's plantation. While eleven might a little old for this era to be considered children, though I'm getting too technical (the problem with historical knowledge and period pieces).

I do agree that Natalie found Angelique to be uninteresting because of class distinction. Servants are meant to only really be seen when they are needed, which might have given Angelique plenty of time to keep up with her witchcraft in her own room, like she has been seen doing at Collinwood from time to time.

I actually find it weird that Laura Parker had Natalie know about her mother's abilities because that would likely shade Natalie's suspictions when witchcraft starts popping up in Collinwood. Even if Natalie has had years of not seeing anything weird from Angelique, it would be something to investigate. Then again, maybe this is a spell on Angelique's part.

Regarding Angelique's background, it gets weirder later when she recalls things from the 1600s, though Big Finish has gone to support the fan-fic theory that Angelique merely becomes reincarnated, though not fully grown like Laura Collins.

There are a number of backgrounds that have been proposed regarding Angelique's childhood. Lara Parker in the novel Angelique's Descent suggests that she was separated from her mother at age 10 or so. In one of the Big Finish audio dramas (Final Judgement) indicates that Josette and Angelique were raised together. Natalie is critical of the way that Josette shared her toys and clothing with Angelique who is destined to be a servant. Personally, I tend to think that Natalie found Angelique to be an uninteresting child because of class distinctions--it was not worth her time to pay that much attention to Angelique.

I was so happy that this week, Vicki is starting to realize that she needs to keep her mouth shut.

Concerning the witch trials, there's the Second Salem Witchcraft Trials or the Ipswich Witchcraft Trials of 1878, so Vicki 's witchcraft trials isn't the last. The case in Ipswich is considered the last witchcraft trial in USA. There's also Mercy Brown vampire incident, where the late Mercy Brown's corpse was staked in 1892 in Exeter, RI for suspicions of vamprism.

Governesses were traditionally from well-off families in that they could afford to educate their daughters a bit before the the young boys moved onto tutors and prepared for university. While not financially well-off enough to sit around and wait for marriage, governesses would be a sort of upper-middleclass, though it's a little early for that term to be used.

Very worthwhile—both the video and the podcast. Especially for us oldtimers who rely on memory and never watched this far back, anyway. I confess to being totally ignorant of some of the oldest plot lines: Little David trying to kill Roger, who knew? I didn’t realize that we met Josette long before we ever met Barnabas. Stuff like that. I really never understood how troubled the Collins family was before a vampire even came on to the scene.

And…I know some of you don’t want to hear this—but it does fit in pretty well with much of the 2012 Tim Burton movie.

Thanks Russ, Chrissy, and the Collinsport Historical Society (love that name!)

Just read this regarding Frid having a particularly bad gaffe removed:

"In a rare instance Frid managed to get them to edit an particularly bad gaffe on his part by agreeing to waive a bonus owed for working extra late on an episode."

Might not be the ideal source, but certainly gets you a step closer, though who knows if this is the right scene redone.

In regards to looking for Diana Millay. I know that Sam Hall in an interview a few back from the disc this is on that he said that the writers came up with the idea for Angelique. While he didn't say that Angelique was NOT supposed to be Diana Millay, but he presented it as a completely new character.

Regarding Peter Murphy, why didn't Vicki have a déjà vu moment with him, haha.

With male narrators, there will be male narrators later. Trying to find a list online (I know I saw one years ago), but no avail.

Bring on Angelique!

While this is NOT something Dark Shadows ever brings up in ANY media. Another show I watched did time-traveling and explained the use of the same actors of the time-traveler seeing the same souls in their older bodies (before being reincarnated in their present-day counterparts). Perhaps Vicki is merely projecting onto people. After all the show does later say that there is a theory that there are only 12 faces in the world. Another excuse is Collinsport is a small town, so genetic variance is limited, though for the duPres family to pass on their genes to 1960s...

I understand that Vicki basically had to have a week of "you're so-and-so-from-the-1960s, but now you're who?" I just wish that they did it as internal dialogue or her having a private monologue in her room.

Concerning the clock, I actually appreciated the comment by Roger. Old clocks are particularly fussy. My grandfather was an unprofessional antique clock repairman and there are still things that don't quite run perfectly, but we accept them and save thousands of dollars. Remember that clock has been in the Collins family for centuries (even if the style suggests otherwise- more like 1 century at best). Clocks can run for ages before something effects them and that something could be as small as humidity swelling the gears or as big as a book blocking the hammer from the bell.

Mathew Morgan seemed to do more of the heavy lifting and gardening than fiddling with tiny probably wooden cogs on an old clock.

I thought in many ways old Prewitt added back in a sense of a larger world and how not everyone who comes and goes from Collinwood has to be wrapped up in the intrigue.

Did we say Jeremiah was a supervillain? Don't recall saying that. If we did, please let us know where, so we can correct ourselves!

Also: Laura was Jeremiah's wife at one point??? We have just watched through to the end of Jeremiah's life in 1795 and the only person he was married to was Josette. Did this happen in an alternate time line that we have not yet reached in our viewing?

But I do agree with you: Laura Collins was an excellent villain! But...SUPER-villain? I'd have to think that one through...
